The South East Chicago Commission and Special Service Area #61 proudly presented the HPFM Holiday Makers Market on November 16 and December 14, 2024.
Residents and visitors were invited to the festive indoor shopping experience for two Saturdays at The Promontory (5311 S Lake Park W).
The building was filled with good spirit and cheer. More than two dozen vendors packed the 2nd floor of the Promontory to
create a market for guests to shop locally this season. Vendors offered a range of unique holiday gifts, including fresh-baked goods, original art, jewelry, wellness products, holiday stationery, and custom gift baskets—perfect for seasonal shopping.
Upon entering guests were welcomed by friendly faces at the SECC hospitality desk. Each adult guest was offered a Free reusable shopping bag and a chance to sign up for the live drawings for gift baskets stuffed with local treats and holiday spirit.
The entire space was bustling with vendors and shoppers talking and laughing. Freshly baked treats and beverages from the bar gave sensory satisfaction to treat your taste buds.
DJ Eli set the tempo with cool vibes of old school classic tunes. Kaye Cooksey captured photos of the warm faces that filled the spaces in the Promontory.
Hyde Park School of Dance performers showed off their brilliant choreography in full costumes. Proud parents, shoppers, vendors and staff clapped, cheered and captured the moments of beauty and grace.
Two special guests, 5th Ward Alderman Desmon Yancy and Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson visited with the small businesses, made a couple of remarks on stage, wished us all well for the holidays and did some shopping to support the local vendors.
Alderman Lamont Robinson’s office collected a table full of unwrapped gifts for the 4th Ward Annual Toy Drive benefiting local families with children!
This year, the Holiday Makers Market received sponsorship support from Chicago Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP), Joyce Foundation, Choose Chicago, and City of Chicago Mayor’s Road to Recovery Plan.
