Thursday Nights Are About to Get Groovy: The Harper Court Summer Music Series Returns!

Hyde Park, get ready to keep that weekend energy going early! If you thought our neighborhood Fridays were the only time to catch a vibe, think again. The highly anticipated Harper Court Summer Music Series 2026 lineup has officially dropped, and it is bringing four incredible nights of free, live music and community celebration to Downtown Hyde Park Chicago.

Taking over Harper Court on select Thursday evenings from June through September, this series promises to transform your ordinary weeknights into unforgettable outdoor block parties. Hosted by the charismatic Mario Smith, this is the ultimate excuse to text the crew, grab a lawn chair, and experience the cultural heartbeat of Hyde Park.

The 2026 Thursday Lineup: Steppers, Legends, and Soul

This year’s eclectic schedule features everything from legendary DJs to powerhouse vocalists and a spectacular community dance competition:

  • Thursday, June 4 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) | 3rd Annual Hyde Park Best Steppers Contest: Dust off your dancing shoes! We are kicking off the season with a celebration of Chicago’s signature dance style. Move to the beats of DJ Eric “ET” Taylor as couples compete for trophies and serious cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  • Thursday, July 9 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) | Rich Medina + LeftJones: Prepare for a masterclass in rhythm. The opening act will set the vibe from 6:00–7:00 PM and wrap things up from 8:00–9:00 PM, flanking a spectacular headlining set from 7:00–8:00 PM.
  • Thursday, August 6 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) | Tammy McCann + DJ Celeste Alexander: A breathtaking fusion of world-class jazz vocals and legendary house music energy. The evening features an opening act from 6:00–7:00 PM and 8:00–9:00 PM, with the main headliner taking the stage from 7:00–8:00 PM.
  • Thursday, September 10 (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) | Shawnee Dez + DJ Selah Say: Close out the hot summer season with the ethereal, soulful sounds of Shawnee Dez and the genre-bending selections of DJ Selah Say. Structuring the night, the opening acts play from 6:00–7:00 PM and 8:00–9:00 PM, with the headliner performing from 7:00–8:00 PM.

The Harper Court Summer Music Series isn’t just a concert line—it’s a massive celebration of Hyde Park’s vibrant business district.
