On December 15, lululemon hosted a meet and-greet at their Hyde Park location – 1451 E 53rd Street from 10:30 am to 1 pm to celebrate the unveiling of artist Nikko Washington’s mural installation. This also served as a one-year anniversary celebration, commemorating the brand’s integration into the local community.
The event encouraged neighbors and community members to visit the mural, connect with Washington in person and enjoy a few light bites.
Chicago Public Art Group (CPAG), in partnership with lululemon, unveiled a 1,200-square-foot mural designed by artist Nikko Washington to celebrate the Hyde Park Community and the one-year anniversary of lululemon opening its Hyde Park store. The mural, installed on a residential building owned by Mac Properties and visible from 53rd Street, will be celebrated with a reception and meet-and-greet with the artist at the lululemon store on Thursday, December 15th.
Designed and created by local artist Nikko Washington and commissioned by lululemon, who opened its seventh Chicago store in the Hyde Park neighborhood in the fall of 2021, the mural aims to celebrate and acknowledge what the region means to its longtime residents and the artist himself – history, strength and a sanctuary to the people who call it home.
