Shoutout to Jacoby Cochran at City Cast Chicago for the great story, “Walk a Mile on 53rd Street.”

Cochran writes, “I’ve spent half of my adult years living in Hyde Park. Whether performing, shopping, or hanging with friends, I have made lifelong memories exploring the neighborhood.”  For those of us who are local residents or regular visitors, there was no surprise to hear that “Harper Court is home to great concerts during the spring and summer, but the shops are buzzing all year long.”

Some of Cochran’s local notables along 53rd Street between Hyde Park Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue include:

14 Parish

The Falcon Inn

Cholie’s

The Promontory

The Silver Room

Bonne Sante

Recycled Modern

Strugglebeard Bakery

Suuri Design

Sneakerville 88

Harper Theater

Hyde Park Records

Small Cheval

Kilwins

While Cochran obviously had several places to choose from, the article notes that usually 10 spots are recommended.  But we all know there’s way more than 10 spots in a mile walk on 53rd Street. You could spend the weekend and not see everything.  But if you do, we have very comfortable hospitality at the Hyatt Place hotel and Sophy hotel.

Thanks to Jacoby Cochran for the highlights.  We’ll be on the look out for his visits in the future.
