DESCRIPTION:On January 17th at 12pm Mahari Restaurant will celebrate its official grand opening in the Hyde Park Shopping Center with a ribbon cutting supported by the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce! ✂️ \nCelebrate with Mahari as they share their passion for delicious food and great vibes at 1504 E. 55th Street in Hyde Park Chicago. \n\nMahari restaurant was featured January 9\, 2025 on WGN’s “Spotlight Chicago” with Sarah Jindra and Ji Suk Yi.  “From the vibrant spices of West Africa to the soulful comfort foods of the American South\, one new Hyde Park restaurant is inviting you on a unique culinary journey of tradition. ‘Mahari’ is a dining experience that combines African\, Caribbean\, Creole\, Afro-Latina\, and soul food cuisine.”\n\n—-\nThe Hyde Park Herald reports that “Mahari\, a new fusion eatery by Hyde Park-born chef Rahim Muhammad\, is bringing cuisines from across the African diaspora to the Hyde Park Shopping Center in August.” \n“He’s still finalizing the menu\, but several preview events he’s hosted around the city can give a taste of what’s to come: dishes like bacalaitos\, Puerto Rican cod fritters with mango chutney; sweet plantain french toast and Moroccan couscous with suya smoked and grilled lamb. For drinks\, Muhammad paired the menu with cocktails like the ‘Mahari-ta\,’ a ginger liqueur\, mango puree and citrus mix\, and the ‘Sorel Sling\,’ made with Moroccan hibiscus blended with Brazilian clove\, Indonesian cassia and Nigerian ginger.”
